Best-selling Falco author, Lindsey Davis was welcomed by an enthusiastic audience on a balmy summer’s evening in the grandeur of the Blue room in Headington Hill Hall. OPuS members circulated with drinks overlooking carefully tended lawns, a far cry from the setting of A Body in the Bath House, Davis’ latest title.
After some time given to the usual OPuS networking session, Lindsey started her talk by being very open about her civil service background and shared with us her early experiences as a new writer freed from the constraints of full time work. She talked about the development of her key protagonist, Falco.
For those not yet acquainted, Falco is a private eye based in ancient Rome. His natural, wisecracking style make him an endearing hero whose adventures are closely followed by millions around the world.
Lindsey delighted her listeners with a reading from an earlier title where a Roman publisher is giving advice to a new writer, clearly things haven’t changed much in 2000 years.
Come and listen to the award-winning author Lindsey Davis in the beautiful surroundings of Headington Hill Hall, part of Oxford Brookes University (opposite the Gipsy Lane site).
Lindsey Davis — Lindsey Davis, a graduate of English at Oxford University, started her career writing romantic serials commissioned for Woman’s Realm.
