The publishing landscape continues to evolve as the web changes the business models and formats of publishing as we have known them.
What will be the possible outcomes and who will be the winners and losers in 5 years time?
Two speakers are prepared to stick their necks out and predict how the cake might divide as a consequence of the electronic world.
The first is David Prosser, Director of SPARC Europe, who will talk about the effects of Open Access on the traditional publishers and whether SPARC should be seen as a friend or foe.
Followed by Alastair Dryburgh, ex Pearson, now working as an Independent Consultant, interested in making the most of online content. Alastair has written a paper called New Ways to Skin a Cat, which looks at the potential online gives to extract profit from the same content. It is this theme he will take up to give us some insights and ideas for our publishing futures.
So from publishers to financiers and editors to marketers come to discover if there is light at the end of this particular tunnel and what we should be doing about it.
