Licensing Electronic Rights

Date: 14 September 1999   Drinks: 18:30   Talk Starts: 19:30 OPuS Event

Description

Sharing your lunch or icing the cake?

Should we license our content or not?

That is the dilemma traditional publishers are currently confronting.

Is there easy money to be made by licensing content to aggregators and internet portals? Or is the risk of losing control of our content too great?

Can we build a community site by licensing content ourselves from other owners?

What are the contractual and intellectual property issues that we must address in licensing?

Every publisher is either faced by these questions now or very soon will be.

At the next OPUS meeting two speakers experienced in this area address the issues around electronic licensing from different perspectives.

Speakers

Rob Scriven — Rob Scriven is Editorial Director for Dictionaries, Academic Division, Oxford University Press.
