Three expert speakers will show you where you can cut costs, invest with confidence, and make money - even in these hard times!
Jo Henry, Managing Director of Publishing News and Book Marketing Ltd (BML)
Jo has been MD of BML since 1996, as well as running Publishing News from autumn 2007 until its closure in summer 2008. She continues to manage the British Book Awards and the Book Marketing Society.
She will talk about how research can be a powerful tool for publishers, yielding a detailed understanding of rivals and the retail trade. She will provide a variety of examples, and will look at how the shift to using online-based research may bring further benefits to publishers - have you heard of virtual “bookshelves” to bring in more sales? You will!
Hollie Williams, Client Strategy Consultant, Adestra Ltd
Adestra are specialists in email marketing. Hollie has over 13 years in the field of online and direct marketing, with the last five spent working with companies such as the BBC, OUP, and Tesco.
She will explore via a range of case studies how the various aspects of a marketing email can be tested and honed to gain the best response. Come, listen, and learn how to save and make money!
Ann Betts, Commercial Director of Nielsen Book UK
Nielsen Book not only manages the provision of all ISBNs (the basic building block for books) for the UK and Ireland, but also runs key services such as BookData, BookNet, and BookScan to the book industry worldwide.
It is inconceivable now that publishers could live without this information, to plan their own programmes, monitor those of the competition, and keep abreast of trends in the business. Ann will discuss the ways in which this rich resource can be mined even more profitably.
