Do you tweet? Are you connected to the blogosphere? Do you have a Facebook profile?

For those of you who don’t have a clue what we’re on about, welcome to the brave new world of social media and social networking.

The last few years has seen a seen an explosion in the number of new-fangled web-based social media platforms, which allow people all over the world to communicate, collaborate and interact in lots of new and exciting ways.

"With online social networking, you can communicate with anybody around the world in real time... They break the constraints of time and space." Matthew Fraser, co-author of "Throwing Sheep in the Boardroom: How Online Social Networking Will Transform Your Life, Work and World" (Wiley, 2008).

From the micro-blogging wonder of Twitter, to the media sharing experience of Flickr, through to the omnipotent social networks like Facebook, LinkedIn and MySpace; it is a veritable multi-media minefield out there!

To shine a light on this brave new world, Sam Missingham, Director, Lounge Marketing; Head of Audience Development for The Bookseller Magazine and www.thebookseller.com, and Davina Quarterman, List Marketing Manager, Life Science Journals, Wiley-Blackwell will be talking to us about how publishers can take advantage of social media platforms to develop their titles and to connect with their audience.
