OPuS Author event: Michael Bhaskar talks about his work

Waterstones are kindly hosting OPUS for a special occasion. As many members will know Michael Bhaskar is not only a great speaker and perceptive thinker about the world of publishing and publications but he also runs his own innovative digital publisher.

On Wednesday 24th August he is being interviewed by Anthony Watkinson, honorary lecturer in the Centre for Publishing at University College London and will be open to questions from the floor.

He will explain the thinking behind his important new book Curation: The power of selection in a world of excess. Why have we started ‘curating’ everything? This wide-ranging and original work of non-fiction looks at why the term became such a buzzword - and why it’s a more interesting and powerful idea than we might think. It comes with examples from across the modern economy but also has a particular relevance for publishers.

A free glass of wine will be supplied and books will be available for sale and signing. Michael is probably unique because he not only understands publishing's changing role in a new digital environment but he is concerned with publishing as a whole not just the trade sector.

Drinks 6.30-7pm

Interview & Q&A 7-7.45pm

Signing 7.45-8pm

Michael's books will be available for purchase and signing after the event.

There are only 80 tickets available on a first come first served basis, free to OPuS members. You will be sent a pdf ticket to bring to the event (no admission on the night without a ticket).
